Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud.
We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
GlassHouse Technologies announced the acquisition of
independent IT consulting firm TPP Group. The move is part of GlassHouse’s
continued drive to expand its storage management capabilities across the UK.
The agreement was completed on May 22, 2008 for an
undisclosed amount, and TPP employees have already joined the GlassHouse team
at the company’s EMEA headquarters in Weybridge. TPP clients will also be
joining the GlassHouse roster. This acquisition provides GlassHouse with
additional project and program management capabilities that strengthen the
company’s storage management teams. TPP also bolster’s GlassHouse’s European
presence and provides added support to existing partnerships.
“GlassHouse has a strategic plan for growth and development
in the European market as well as globally,” said Paul Hammond, GlassHouse UK
MD. “Our storage heritage positions us to tackle off aspects of business and IT
evolution that other consultancies don’t have the expertise for, including
broader IT infrastructure challenges and virtualization planning and
implementation. This acquisition reflects that evolution perfectly. We’re
pleased to welcome the TPP Group to our family.”
James Bristow, TPP Group founder and owner, believes that
the synergies between the two companies are a major benefit for all parties and
their customers.
“The TPP methodology fits well into GlassHouse’s impressive
Accelerate vision,” said Bristow. “We’ve always prided ourselves on being an
innovative and entrepreneurial business. GlassHouse’s managed services
capability also provides our clients with an added level of depth and experience
to draw upon.”
