Web
applications continue to evolve to support a far richer user experience than in
the early days of the Internet. However, delivering these solutions adds
complexity and demands additional programming skills. This session provides an
overview of how the innovative IBM Rational technology delivered through its
new Enterprise Generation Language (EGL) capabilities, helps dramatically
simplify the construction of rich user interfaces and their integration with
back-end services, transactional systems, and data sources for any platform,
including System z and System i. This revolutionary approach enables companies
to leverage their valuable IT assets into state-of-the-art SOA-based and web
solutions in record time while leveraging existing skills.
Speaker Bio: Chris was born in The Netherlands, obtained a
MsC at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam
and a PhD at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. At both IBMT.J.WatsonResearchCenter and
Morgan-Stanley, Chris worked on tools for user interfaces, component
infrastructures, and software development environments. He led the OTI
Amsterdam lab for 3.5 years, working on WebSphere Studio Device Developer.
After that, he worked with IBM Rational in Ottawa on Java runtimes and Eclipse, and
co-authored the "Eclipse Frequently Asked Questions" book. Chris
delivered many conference presentations and articles, wrote various books on
Java and Eclipse, authored articles on "Ajax" on DeveloperWorks, and holds 6
patents. Currently, Chris is product architect of Rational Business Developer
(RBD) and development team lead for the EGL Rich UI. Chris is a member of the
Enterprise Tooling and Compiler group in IBM Rational.
