Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

3Leaf Systems Delivers Disaster Recovery for Large Scale Server Farms with New I/O Virtualization Release
3Leaf V-8000 Version 2.0 Simplifies Management and Provides Improved Resiliency I/O Utilization for Enterprise Data Centers

3Leaf Systems announced the general availability of 3Leaf V-8000 Virtual I/O Server version 2.0, a key component of 3Leaf Virtual Compute Environment. The new software release delivers disaster recovery, streamlined management, and enhanced availability for large x86 server deployments. Executing on 3Leaf's strategy of enabling virtualization by running on standard hardware, the V-8000 version 2.0 software is an I/O virtualization solution that runs on standard off the shelf commodity x86 servers.

"3Leaf V-8000 Virtual I/O Server version 2.0 takes a giant step to empower server and system administrators, greatly enhancing data center agility and availability," said B.V. Jagadeesh, CEO, 3Leaf Systems. "With the new V-8000 version 2.0, 3Leaf provides simplified management and cost effective disaster recovery for commodity x86 servers, dramatically reducing data center expenses."

"I/O virtualization is a crucial step towards the next generation data center," said Arun Taneja, founder and analyst, Taneja Group. "3Leaf is leading the charge in this area with a software solution that runs on commodity hardware. This fact alone makes their solution highly appealing to the data center buyers because it gives IT more control over costs and allows for easier integration into their infrastructures. Now with V-8000 version 2.0 the IT administrator will find simplified management and added provisioning agility another reason to explore the merits of this solution."

3Leaf V-8000 Version 2.0 Features and Benefits
Powered by V-8000 version 2.0, 3Leaf's Virtual Compute Environment solution delivers the following powerful features and benefits to enterprise data centers and server farms:

  • Greatly simplified management and provisioning of large-scale server deployments, with asset hierarchies and separation between infrastructure architecture and ongoing operations, bringing true relief to IT departments.
  • Disaster recovery solution that automates service recovery of production server farms and sites to a consolidated recovery site.
  • Boosted operational agility with accelerators such as building composite servers from modular building blocks, application level provisioning without server reboot, and easy drag-and-drop operations.
  • Improved availability and resiliency, with a novel multi-pathing approach that eliminates operating system dependent setup and brings cost-effective I/O high-availability to every server farm.
  • Ease of solution deployment and investment protection with proven software running on standard x86 servers. The V-8000 Virtual I/O Server software runs on a commodity platform available from 3Leaf or commercial channels.
  • Now with a backbone I/O fabric of up to 40Gb/s, servers running the new release will have a wider data path for I/O-heavy operations, especially for heavily loaded hypervisor hosts and where VM migration such as VMotion requires an uninterrupted path.

3Leaf V-8000 version 2.0 helps eliminate interruption and improve business continuity by conveniently separating work between infrastructure administrators, who set up physical infrastructures, and application administrators who freely define and deploy server profiles that use this infrastructure. In addition, enterprise server capabilities that have traditionally required expert setup are now available out of the box even for novice users.

3Leaf V-8000 version 2.0 provides mainframe class agility, scalability, availability, and resource utilization to the enterprise while drastically lowering data center costs. The number of Ethernet and Fibre Channel ports is reduced by 80 percent, and the number of NICs and HBAs is reduced by 85 percent. Easy repurposing of servers saves on administrative costs, and allows servers to stay fully utilized, saving up to 50 percent in power consumption, facilitating the building of green data centers. The V-8000 version 2.0 saves a combined 50 percent in both capital and operating expenditures.
