BEND, Ore., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Beekeeper demonstrations,
insect gathering and identification workshops, school programs and scavenger
hunts for school groups are part of the High Desert Museum's BUGS! exhibit
made possible by West Coast Bank. BUGS! opens on September 26, 2008, and runs
through February 1, 2009.
With interactive fun for all ages, visitors will discover how bugs affect
our lives and benefit us now and throughout history. Build a bug, look through
bug eyes, and meet the state bug -- the Oregon swallowtail butterfly. Examine
live specimens -- even the huge African scorpion. This exhibit is sure to have
visitors exclaiming, "Yuck!" "Cool!" and, "Fascinating!"
Xandra McKeown, West Coast Bank Executive Vice President -- Commercial
Banking, and a member of the High Desert Museum Board of Trustees said, "The
High Desert Museum is a wonderful resource which showcases and celebrates the
history and contemporary issues of all inhabitants of the High Desert
landscape. Through exhibits, wildlife, and living history, the museum
educates, informs and delights thousands of local residents and visitors who
walk through the doors every year. It is West Coast Bank's pleasure to support
and be personally involved in such an exceptional treasure in Oregon."
Janeanne Upp, President of High Desert Museum, said, "We are most grateful
to West Coast Bank. Its support allows organizations such as the High Desert
Museum to present these interactive and educational exhibitions."
