TORONTO, CANADA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/07/08 -- Canadian General Investments, Limited (the "Company") (TSX: CGI)(TSX: CGI.PR.A)(TSX: CGI.PR.B)(TSX: CGI.PR.C)(LSE: CGI) today announced that it has provided notice to holders of its $60,000,000 5.40% Cumulative Redeemable Class A Preference Shares, Series 1 that the Company will redeem all of such Shares on October 6, 2008 for the redemption price of $25.00 per share plus accrued and unpaid dividends (from and including the last scheduled dividend payment date, September 15, 2008, to but excluding the date of redemption, and being in the amount of $0.07767 per share), less any required withholding tax.
