DALLAS, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R), global
leader in the breast cancer movement, has received Charity Navigator's highest
rating -- four stars -- for the second year in a row.
Charity Navigator, the nation's largest and most relied-upon evaluator of
charities closely examines the fiscal operations of more than 5,000 charities
annually to determine their financial soundness, how responsibly they function
day to day and whether the programs they offer are well positioned and
sustainable.
This most recent four-star rating assures thousands of potential donors
that Susan G. Komen for the Cure continues to excel, as compared to other
charities in America, in managing its organizational finances in an efficient
and effective manner.
"Applause and thanks go to our Affiliates, our volunteers and our staff
who are unified in a deep commitment to furthering the strength of our
mission. They all work very hard to ensure that each dollar raised or donated
is wisely invested in the fight to end breast cancer forever," said Susan G.
Komen for the Cure President and CEO, Hala Moddelmog.
Komen for the Cure, which raised more than $334 million in revenue for the
fiscal year ending March 1, 2007, this year received a 63.34 rating from
Charity Navigator, exceeding last year's 63.25 rating.
Charity Navigator helps donors make intelligent charitable giving
decisions. Charity Navigator's rating system evaluates two broad areas of a
charity's financial health: organizational efficiency and organizational
capacity. The ratings show potential donors how efficiently Charity Navigator
believes a charity will use donor support right now, and how the organization
is positioned to continue providing programs and services in the future.
