Plone and Drupal: Different Approaches, Different Results
paul.nowak wrote: Matt, thanks for the comments. I made an error on the version of Plone. It's 2.5 Plone running on Zope 2.9x. In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

WaveMaker Introduces Point and Click AJAX
WYSIWYG AJAX Platform Creates Full Web Application in 15 Clicks

WaveMaker announced the release of WaveMaker Visual AJAX Studio 4.0. WaveMaker Studio is an open source development tool that makes it easy to build visually stunning web applications. With just 15 mouse clicks and zero coding, a developer can build and deploy a sleek, web-based application using WaveMaker.

“WaveMaker is hands down the fastest way to build and deploy AJAX applications,” said Chris Keene, CEO of WaveMaker. “Web developers can use our visual studio to build point and click web applications without having to know a single Web 2.0 acronym!”

WaveMaker Version 4.0 represents a fundamental breakthrough for building faster, sexier, open-source web applications:

  • Fastest solution for building AJAX mashups – WaveMaker Live Forms make it trivial to assemble applications using databases and web services.
  • Sexiest AJAX toolkit – With this release, WaveMaker engineers created a best in class skin for the Dojo toolkit, giving a Mac-quality look to any web application.
  • First open-source development studio that runs in a browser – Enables ISVs to embed WaveMaker as a customization tool within their SaaS applications.

WaveMaker Version 4.0 includes the following features and upgrades:

  • Eliminates forms hell – Data-aware forms enable a developer to build a form to create, read, update and delete (CRUD) database information with a single click.
  • Comes with a built-in “oops” button – Within the browser-based WaveMaker visual studio, the developer can undo any number of page designer changes.
  • Makes web services wonderful – Working with web services WSDL is ugly – WaveMaker hides that complexity with auto-discovery of web services.
  • Style a Mac-user can appreciate – Developers familiar with Apple’s XCode will find WaveMaker's MVC and binding interfaces familiar and fast. Mac users will also appreciate WaveMaker’s blazing performance on Apple’s Safari 3 browser.
  • Complete platform – Developers can choose to install either the PostgreSQL open source database or EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus distribution, as part of their WaveMaker installation. WaveMaker also ships with several Postgres Plus and PostgreSQL sample applications.

“Web 2.0 applications demand the scalability, reliability and high performance that have made PostgreSQL and Postgres Plus so popular with developers,” said Bob Zurek, chief technology officer, EnterpriseDB. “We are pleased to partner with WaveMaker to bring the many benefits of the world’s most advanced open source database to WaveMaker Visual AJAX Studio users.”

Developers agree about the speed and ease of use of the new WaveMaker Visual AJAX Studio 4.0.

“WaveMaker 4.0 brings rapid development to simple web applications and prototypes,” said Gustavo Gama of RadioMóvel SA and WaveMaker developer community member.

“I have been looking at several products to create web applications with rich user interfaces, among them MS Visual Studio, Visual WebGUI, TIBCO general interface and Ext, but really none of these products offered the 'plug and play' experience that WaveMaker offers,” said Bastian Maat of SAP Belgium. “It is literally possible to have a simple web application running in 15 minutes straight”

WaveMaker Visual AJAX Studio is available under the GNU AGPL version 3 open source license, as well as a WaveMaker commercial license. Applications created using WaveMaker deploy as standard Java WAR files to Java servers such as Apache Tomcat or IBM WebSphere. With no proprietary code or languages involved, WaveMaker applications easily meet CIOs’ architecture, security and data policies.
