MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 08/19/08 -- Dr. Robert Ouellet, a Montreal radiologist, will give his inaugural speech as President Elect of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) at the third and final day of the CMA General Council. Attended by over 400 physicians from across the country, the 141th assembly of the General Council will close tomorrow, August 20, 2008. The day will begin with a debate on delegates' motions ranging from topics such as safe-injection sites, obesity, environmental health, and more.
At the press conference scheduled in the afternoon, CMA spokespeople will give an update on "More Doctors. More Care." campaign. Representatives from provincial medical associations will talk about the doctor shortage in Canada and the impact of this shortage on their respective jurisdictions.
The day will end with the installation of the new President as well as an awards ceremony where recipients will be recognized by the CMA for their remarkable contributions to the profession, to patients and to the country.
