Taipei INVENT 2008 (The 2008 Taipei Int’l
Invention Show & Technomart), is back bigger and better Sept. 25
to 28 to blossom the genius of those who aim to change the world.
Supervised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Education,
Ministry of National Defense, National Science Council, and the Council
of Agriculture, this even features more than 2,000 patented and
innovative technologies from more than 20 nations as diverse as the USA,
Russia, Brazil, Singapore, and Korea. Taiwan is given top ranking to
this 900-booth event by featuring it at the main showground of the
Taipei World Trade Center.
This event unfolds across the three theme zones: the Competition
Pavilion, Technology Innovation Pavilion and Technomart, and the 2008
National Invention and Creation Awards Pavilion. Inventions,
technology, and patented products from the fields of information,
communication, electronics, optoelectronics, machinery, automation,
material and chemical engineering, biotechnology, medicine, food,
agriculture, industrial hygiene, environmental protection,
transportation, resources, energy, and household electronic appliances
will be featured at the show.
The Local & Foreign Inventions Competition Pavilion
The Local & Foreign Inventions Competition Pavilion is planned by the
Intellectual Property Office at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and
provides 548 booths for companies and individuals from around the world
to display their products. A total of 327 companies and individuals have
registered to show more than 650 innovative products and technology that
provide greater convenience in everyday living. For example, this show
features a fully automatic coffee machine that never has to be washed,
adjustable incinerators, garbage cans that double as bug zappers, 360
degree spinning mops, cell phones that control garage doors, and
motorcycle helmets that double as an mp3 player and telephone. And with
trends toward greater environmental protection and energy conservation,
there will be many related inventions. For example, 15-year-old inventor
Yuqian Zhuo’s “airborne
reservoir and underwater reservoir” use
containers with buoys to collect rain water in the air or on the water
in order to increase freshwater supply. He has obtained patents in both
Taiwan and the US. Furthermore, all major universities in Taiwan have
been actively training inventors to participate in the show. For
example, the Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science will be
displaying their DNA preservation device. Kun Shan University will be at
the show with their automatic sprinkler system and wing design for micro
aircraft. The Gerontechnology Research Center at Yuan Ze University will
be showing their remote control carts and portable homecare biosensor
system. The National Central University will also be staging their
visually induced brainwave controlled monitoring system, and Kao Yuan
University will bring their special terrain exercise wheel. This shows
that there are many excellent inventors in Taiwan. All these wonders of
genius will be highlighted at the show.
Furthermore, the Local & Foreign Inventions Competition Pavilion is
expected to be attended by invention associations, inventors and other
companies from 15 countries such as the US, South Korea, Australia,
Spain, and Brazil. Using the event as a platform, inventors from all
over the world will engage in healthy competition with inventions from
Taiwan. Not only has this competition encouraged the exchange of ideas,
it has also helped Taipei INVENT achieve international status.
Widest eye on Innovation & Technology
Note also that the Technology Innovation Pavilion and Technomart is the
largest event of its kind in Taiwan and has been specially organized by
the Industrial Development Bureau and the Industrial Technology Research
Institute. The five government agencies have invited many research and
academic institutes to exhibit their innovative technology in carbon
reduction, energy conservation, biotechnology, and medicine inside 12
themed pavilions. These pavilions include national defense,
technological innovation, agriculture, Ministry of Education, Bureau of
Energy, state-owned enterprises, innovative prospects, information
technology, R&D alliance, innovation alliance for traditional industry,
small and medium enterprises, and intellectual property management.
The event will be showing Taiwan’s innovative
technology to companies worldwide from September 25 to 28. For example,
the Industrial Technology Research Institute will be promoting its
E-scooters and employment healthcare system; the Bureau of Energy will
be saving energy with its digital light adjustment control systems; the
Ministry of Education will showcase its external natural air purifiers
and wind-powered cars and the Council of Agriculture will display its
health foods for immune system made with seaweed oligosaccharides.
Meanwhile the state-owned enterprises pavilions will highlight the
Diamond Bright series of cosmetics. There’s
also an alliance for innovation which has created a safety warning
system that alerts motorists who stray out of lane or to close to other
vehicles. With these come an automobile auto-parking system,
self-powered resistance module for exercising equipment, a 70-meter
aluminum alloy luxurious yacht; R&D alliance’s
electric heating textiles and sesame lignin for cardiovascular
health.
The intellectual property management pavilion will highlight its “combination
patent technology”. With “Technology
and Life” as its theme, the pavilion shows
selected patented products related to health and green technology from
the 20,000 tradable patents in the TWTM Database to exhibit including “the
technology of bicycles”. The pavilion will
have two bikes made with combination patents on display to give visitors
trial rides. It is expected that with the “combination
patent technology” marketing strategy, Taiwan’s
research can be widely used in applications worldwide.
11 useful forums & conferences
During the show, 11 technology forums and conferences will take place on
the second floor of the TWTC. The forums will cover topics such as
biomedical technology, energy, environment, electronics,
optoelectronics, information technology, and communication. The
conferences will feature specially invited experts and scholars to
discuss technology match making and trends in venture capital and
finances to improve Taiwan’s market for
intellectual property.
And besides the showground exhibition and the conferences on the second
floor, the show also lights up a stage to let exhibitors promote their
patented products daily. Many activities such as games, food tasting and
other promotional events will also take place in the Technology
Innovation Pavilion and Technomart. For more information on the 2008
