By: Marketwire .
Aug. 20, 2008 09:01 AM

CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/20/08 -- Peak Resources Incorporated ("Peak") (OTCBB: PKRC) is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Pierre Zakarauskas as Executive Director of Technology & Product Development and Robert Williams as Executive Director of Operations for Peak's technology and business development in landmine detection and removal.

Dr. Pierre Zakarauskas received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of British Columbia and has worked for 11 years as a defence scientist for the Canadian Department of National Defence conducting research in detection systems. He has significant experience in developing and applying signal processing to practical applications, and has filed a patent for a device to detect landmines in heavily forested areas. He co-founded a successful high tech company, Wavemakers Inc., where he held the posts of President, V.P. of R&D, and CTO. Wavemakers was acquired by Harman International Industries (NYSE: HAR) in 2003.

Robert Williams has over 35 years experience in the aerospace industry. Formerly Vice President Marketing, Sales and International Business of the Avmax Group Inc., and a Regional Director with British Aerospace, he has extensive contacts with senior government officials in countries with significant numbers of landmines. Mr. Williams' experience in the oil and gas industry, geological mapping and helicopter logging in remote isolated areas will be invaluable in developing successful field operations in remote areas.

"We are privileged to have two highly experienced professionals play integral roles in our technology and business development," says Larry Olson, President and CEO of Peak Resources. "These gentlemen bring both real-world know-how and personal dedication to the critical challenge of reclaiming the millions of acres worldwide currently untouchable due to landmines."

About Peak Resources Inc.

Peak Resources Inc. currently trades on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol PKRC. Peak is developing a technology business focused on the scanning, mapping and removal of buried landmines. The sensor-based proprietary system currently under development is projected to be approximately three times faster and 50% less expensive than existing mechanical demining methods.

Peak has partnered with Roke Manor Research Ltd., a Siemens Company, global leaders in sensor technology. Peak has exclusively licensed two of Roke's proprietary sensors specifically for landmine detection. Roke has been retained to conduct our research and development program.

In 2006, global funding for landmine clearing totalled US$475 million. There are an estimated 75-100 million landmines in the ground worldwide. Peak will be playing a key role in freeing countries of these indiscriminate weapons.

Peak is changing its name to Mine Clearing Corp. and will be applying for a new trading symbol.
