SOMERSET, N.J., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- During the Pri-Med New York conference at the Jacob K. Javits Center, primary care healthcare providers took a 20-question quiz prepared by MTBC, the innovative healthcare IT company based in Somerset, NJ. The quiz tested basic knowledge of medical billing, claims submission, reimbursement, EMR software, and healthcare administration.
The result: All but a handful scored less than 50%. The average number of correct answers was only 7.5. The top scorer correctly answered 13 out of 20--and won a free private tour on the MTBC airplane.
The participants consisted of more than 50 doctors and nurse practitioners throughout the metropolitan area -- employed at hospitals, government and corporate settings, and at private practices of varying sizes--representing a cross-section of primary healthcare.
"Despite their impact on the revenues and administration of a medical office, practice management essentials are not widely retained by physicians," said David Rosenblum, president of MTBC.
