CHARLESTON, W.Va., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- It's difficult enough being
busy and successful trial attorneys on the East Coast; add to that running a
small, but successful California winery and that becomes really a full plate,
or, rather, a full glass. But that's the life of Mike Bee and Jim Peterson
these days and they are loving it -- winning law cases and filling wine cases.
Their law firm is Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee & Deitzler, headquartered in
Charleston, West Virginia.
Their small winery in the Napa Valley started off as a gentleman's hobby
for the two friends, law partners and wine lovers. However, with hard work
and some good luck, their little wine venture has grown to the point where the
winery is now gaining excellent reviews and enjoying increased distribution --
Falcor now is in 14 states. With this growing success, earlier this year they
built a small winery of their own for better control of wine production.
Previously, Falcor wines had been produced in a rented wine facility.
"We want to very carefully control our growth," said Peterson, who is busy
in Napa now with the harvest and crushing. "Our goal is to focus on very high
quality and very good value for the consumer. We don't need to make big
profits -- Falcor is and always will be a labor of love. We simply want wine
lovers like us to be able to afford our excellent wines."
With the new facility at the southern end of the Napa Valley, wine
enthusiasts now can come to the Falcor winery and are invited to free tastings
and to see the wine actually being produced. The winery also has a very
attractive room for small private parties and recently hired a director of
hospitality, Doug Belogar. Another good feature of the Falcor location is
that is in very close proximity to several other boutique wineries like Patz &
Hall, Delectus, Jessup, Trinitas and a great place to stay, The Meritage
Resort and Spa.
Bee's son, Ryan, is now in the picture as general manager and winemaker.
Ryan also is very busy -- often on the road opening new markets after working
the harvest. Mike Bee's daughter, Natalie, also is helping to market Falcor in
North Carolina.
The Falcor line of wines now includes two vineyard designated Chardonnays,
two Cabernet Sauvignons, Sangiovese, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Franc
and Le Bijou, a Bordeaux blend. Soon to be bottled are a Sonoma County Pinot
Noir and a Rose. For more information: http://www.falcorwines.com.
