SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Aeris(R) Communications, the leading wireless communications service provider dedicated exclusively to the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and telematics marketplace across North America, today announced that Steven Evans has joined the company as vice president of network operations. Evans has an outstanding track record of leadership and success in the M2M industry, implementing industry best practices and scale to network operations and support functions.

"Aeris is very pleased to have Steve on the team," said Dick Gossen, president and CEO of Aeris. "Steve's extensive experience with Tier 1 OEM customers will help enrich Aeris's services and core value propositions in this time of accelerated growth for our company."

Evans will be responsible for the technical side of Aeris's commitment to delivering consistent, reliable and cost-effective network services to its customers and partners. In addition, Evans's in-depth experience in implementing Sarbanes-Oxley and ISO 27001 network certification will further enhance Aeris's network operations.

Before Aeris, Evans was vice president of network operations and carrier relations for Numerex. While at Numerex, Evans directed the company's worldwide network infrastructure organization including all facets of IT/MIS, network and enterprise environments. Evans began his career at Verizon Communications where he spent more than 20 years and led the development and implementation of emerging technology platforms and product solutions into Verizon's network infrastructure. Evans also held a directorship at Charles Industries. He is a graduate of Rutgers University.

"Aeris is in a stage of dynamic growth and has long been a pioneer in the M2M and telematics space," said Evans. "I look forward to helping the company expand into new markets and increase the scope of its deployments."
