OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/15/08 -- His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond will take part in the 26th Colloque des ecrivains, presented by the Academie des lettres du Quebec. The event will take place on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Grande Bibliotheque du Quebec, in Montreal (475 de Maisonneuve Boulevard East).
The theme of this year's colloquium is Les litteratures de la langue francaise a l'heure de la mondialisation (French language literature and the advent of globalization). It will include an opening dialogue, two round-table discussions and a closing session, which will focus on the legacy of Aime Cesaire. Mr. Lafond will speak at 4:00 p.m. on his relationship with the great poet from Martinique and his work, before the screening of his film, La maniere negre ou Aime Cesaire, chemin faisant (A State of Blackness: Aime Cesaire's Way). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the public.
