Plone and Drupal: Different Approaches, Different Results
paul.nowak wrote: Matt, thanks for the comments. I made an error on the version of Plone. It's 2.5 Plone running on Zope 2.9x. In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

Certeon Gains Acceptance into Microsoft Protocol Optimization Licensing Program
Virtualized Application Acceleration Leader Extends Its Support for Optimizing Microsoft Application Performance to Remote

By: Business Wire
Nov. 3, 2008 10:23 AM

Certeon today announced that it has been accepted into Microsoft’s Protocol Optimization Licensing Program (POLP). This agreement is a continuation of Certeon’s long-time, strategic relationship with Microsoft to deliver high performance remote access solutions for Microsoft applications. The signing of this agreement follows Certeon’s September announcement of its support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V in its aCelera software. aCelera is the first and only virtual appliance to deliver application acceleration across the WAN while leveraging a virtualized enterprise infrastructure.

Under the POLP agreement, Certeon will have access to Microsoft‘s intellectual property to further develop and extend its ability to reduce application response time to branch office users over the Wide Area Network (WAN). Certeon’s Application Acceleration Blueprint technology has already proven to be a valuable asset to Microsoft Office and SharePoint users in reducing application response time over the WAN by more than 95 percent. Now with Certeon’s aCelera software, enterprises can maximize branch office users’ remote access performance to virtualized applications without the cost and complexity of proprietary hardware appliances.

Certeon’s aCelera Virtual Appliance software for application acceleration delivers a greater than 95 percent reduction in application response time for applications being accessed across the WAN, with the added benefit of reducing the hardware footprint and high cost of separately managed single-purpose hardware appliances. Certeon’s aCelera software resides inside virtualized data centers and virtualized branch office servers resulting in increased manageability, scalability, user productivity, and lower total cost of ownership.

“Certeon’s acceptance into the Microsoft POLP program is further proof of our commitment to provide customers with flexible, easy to manage, and cost-effective solutions for improving user productivity,” said Peter Dougherty, president and CEO of Certeon. “aCelera enables customers to easily and quickly deploy mission critical Microsoft applications and maximize their ROI for these applications by deploying them in cost-saving virtualized infrastructures.”

aCelera Virtual Appliance software is the perfect union of virtualization and application acceleration delivering a combination of performance, scalability, flexibility, and easy management. aCelera is hypervisor-agnostic and supports high performance remote application access in mixed Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and VMware environments. In addition, aCelera can be centrally managed through its compatibility with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008—enabling IT managers to allocate and manage application performance resources from a single location.

aCelera improves the performance of all remotely accessed applications while turbo-charging such mission critical applications as enterprise content management, Web-based collaboration, and product life cycle management. aCelera Virtual Appliances support Windows Server 2008 environments and are optimized to accelerate remote access to Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, as well as other distributed web applications.
