"The days of Cloud 1.0 are here", stated Red Hat CTO Brian Stevens in his session this morning at SYS-CON's Virtualization Conference & Expo, in San Jose, CA. He discussed the evolution of the cloud, and how to build a cloud and how important data reliability is.
Over the last five years, the open source community has turned its attention to virtualization, and Stevens discussed what has been achieved so far, and what is under development, for example, the hypervisor, which is part of the Linux kernel, enables one to deliver rich native applications. He spoke about building preconfigured systems on virtual machines, and how underneath every cloud runs a virtualization layer.
Clouds are not just about servers, and Red Hat is working to virtualize service on the desktop. Red Hat's mission is the use of clouds everywhere.
