We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
As HP chows down on EDS and digests it, EDS CEO Ron Rittenmeyer said he's had enough and is going to bail at the end of the year.
Originally EDS was supposed to be a free-standing HP subsidiary with Rittenmeyer reporting to HP CEO Mark Hurd.
Now it's going to be absorbed by Ann Livermore's Technology Solutions Group, which with EDS will have combined sales of $14.6 billion - 43% of HP's annual take.
Shoot, any girl could have told the 61-year-old Rittenmeyer not to believe HP's "I'll respect you in the morning" line.
This new structure is supposed to increase HP's revenue and "improve efficiency."
Long-time EDS exec Joe Eazor will be responsible for EDS operations under Livermore.
HP, by the way, has frozen all salaries to contain costs.
