Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.
Composite Software announced that Philip Howard of UK-based Bloor Research evaluated Composite Discovery, which provides search capabilities against structured data that may be stored in multiple locations. Discovery may also be used to search for data and data relationships to support data integration, data governance and other initiatives. Howard's findings are published as an In-Detail Report and excerpted in Pervasive BI (business intelligence) and Information Discovery, an on-demand webinar that looks at the industry trends associated with discovery of data and data relationships.
According to the In-Detail Report, Composite Discovery provides a means of indexing structured data that is stored in any number of heterogeneous data stores.
In Bloor Research's opinion, the following represent Discovery's key features:
The product is delivered as an appliance, pre-installed on a hardware and operating system platform, supposedly reducing associated administration and implementation requirements.
Discovery can bring back hits within a single data source or across multiple data sources where relationships exist.
Results are ordered with multi-related hits first.
Once results are returned, Discovery provides a tabular workspace for filtering and sorting, as well as removing and re-arranging columns in the result set.
Discovery returns data relationships for data joins from related tables without requiring expertise in SQL.
If installed in conjunction with Composite Information Server, Discovery can access non-relational databases, flat files, XML files and so on, as well as SAP, Siebel and other applications.
