HERNDON, Virginia and NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- u-blox America, Inc. And Axonn LLC today announced that Axonn has chosen
u-blox GPS positioning technology for its AXTracker(r) asset tracking device.
AXTracker(r), one of the world's smallest, autonomous tracking units,
will utilise u-blox's high-precision Antaris(r) GPS engine for accurate
position and status reporting of containers, trailers, and other untethered
mobile assets using the Globalstar satellite network.
"Our exhaustive tests have demonstrated that GPS receivers based on
u-blox's low-power Antaris(r) GPS technology are ideal for our miniaturised
device," says Robert Olsavsky, General Manager at Axonn.
"The fast start-up times and extremely low power consumption of the
u-blox TIM-LC allow our AXTracker(r) to be in operation for many years
without the need to replace batteries."
The AXTracker(r) is designed to operate fully autonomously for up to
seven years. The installation takes only minutes, after which there is no
need for servicing the device again throughout its life cycle. Its satellite
communications link and its ruggedness make it the perfect choice for
tracking mobile assets globally.
"u-blox created the surface-mount TIM(tm) form factor for its GPS
receivers exactly for the rugged environment of the AXTracker(r)," says
Nikolaos Papadopoulos, President of u-blox America. "Our GPS technology's
high sensitivity, combined with our extreme focus on quality in design and
production, ensures that our GPS receivers will operate even under the most
extreme conditions."
Given the low cost, ease of installation and reliability, Axonn is
confident that the AXTracker(r) will make tracking an affordable proposition
for any company interested in knowing where its global mobile assets are at
any given time.
