RWD Technologies and Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo Team to Deliver Innovative Training to Refinery Operators

TROY, Mich., and MEXICO CITY, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- RWD Technologies, Inc. (RWD) and Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo (IMP) today announced a strategic relationship to develop and deliver training to operators at the Pemex Cd. Madero refinery. The jointly delivered learning solution, RWD's Technical Operations Performance Support (RWD TOPS(R)), will help accelerate the competency of operators to a level that ensures sound troubleshooting and optimization skills. RWD is a recognized global leader of training solutions in the petroleum and chemical industry, with offices and clients around the world. IMP is committed to improving the performance and the professional development of personnel in the petroleum and chemicals industries in Latin and South America.

IMP and Pemex, the national oil company of Mexico, have worked closely together for years leading to the development and delivery of many of the existing refinery training programs. To efficiently increase operator competency, the RWD TOPS approach offers a more viable alternative to traditional training programs that typically reinforce task-based behavior through example-driven methodologies. The program and services will focus on increasing operators' overall level of competency by 100%. After participating in the program, refinery-operating personnel will be able to make more rapid decisions with confidence because they will anticipate how their actions affect their unit and the plant as whole. This will ensure that plants operate at peak performance and provide the flexibility, quality and responsiveness necessary to increase customer satisfaction while reducing costs.

RWD and IMP entered into this relationship based on a mutual understanding that the key to successfully improving refinery performance is not necessarily found in new technologies or even new processes. Manufacturers find that operational improvements will result from operator competency evaluations, increased competency and troubleshooting skills, process-specific training, and improved methods to transfer knowledge.
