We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
ST. LOUIS, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The new master plan for the historic Bottle District, by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, builds on the city's great history, and looks to dynamic growth and expansion with new residences, entertainment venues and commercial development. The renderings show the view from the riverfront and the Bottle District that dramatically transforms St. Louis' Cityscape.
Taking its cue from the iconic Arch, Mr. Libeskind's master plan links the historical district with the future. The development "provides not just a gateway to the city, but to the Midwest and America's heartland," the noted architect said.
Mr. Libeskind first visited St. Louis three decades ago as a young architect on his honeymoon. He wanted to see the Arch, which he calls a national treasure and one of our nation's greatest architectural achievements. On Wednesday, he and his wife, Nina, returned to visit The Bottle District development, and presented the developers with his master plan.
"This is an incredible city. The people are wonderful and their vision for their city's future is fantastic. Every project is all about people. This project is no different. We all want to share in the revitalization and excitement of this great American city," Mr. Libeskind said.
The Bottle District development is part of a decade-long investment of $2.5 billion to revitalize downtown St. Louis.
"Inspiring and awesome, is how I'd describe his master plan," said Dan McGuire, CEO of BDP, LLC, the developer of The Bottle District. "It's clear he intends The Bottle District to architecturally compliment the Arch. Mr. Libeskind has given the rebirth occurring in downtown St. Louis a great push forward. We are honored that he views The Bottle District development with such passion."
