LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/01/06 -- A stellar group of LA fashion industry experts have made recommendations to the ballot for the second annual LA Fashion Awards and ranked their top choices for honors on October 20 at LA's exclusive fashion industry event recognizing the best and brightest fashion design, branding and merchandising talents based in Southern California. Votes are collected online by the event's producers and verified with the participation of accounting firm Moss Adams LLP, founding sponsor of the LA Fashion Awards and creator of the MAFI (Moss Adams Fashion Innovator) Award. Nominees will be announced to the media in August.

Among the 33 members of the invitation-only Nominating Committee are Lawren Howell west coast fashion editor, Vogue magazine; stylist Rachel Zoe (Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie); Arianne Phillips, stylist and Oscar®-nominated costume designer (Walk the Line); Marlien Rentmeester, west coast bureau chief, Lucky magazine; Durand Guion, fashion director, Macy's; John Eshaya, women's wear director, Ron Herman; style writer and co-owner of A+R, Rose Apodaca; Alisa Loftin, owner, Aero & Company; Laurie Pike, style director, Los Angeles magazine; Alison Nieder, editor-in-chief, California Apparel News; Jayne Seward, fashion editor, California Apparel News; Nicole Mann, style writer, Los Angeles magazine; Linda Immediato, style editor, LA Weekly; Melissa Magsaysay, west coast market editor, Women's Wear Daily; Denise Scher, fashion director, MAGIC International; Sally Lohan, west coast editor, WGSN; designer Nony Tochterman designer of Petro Zillia; designer Trina Turk of Trina Turk; Rosemary Brantley, chair of the school of Fashion, Otis College of Art and Design; Christina Neault, producer, IMG/7th on 6th; Darren Gold, co-owner, Alpha; Alisa Loftin, owner, Aero & Company; Betsee Isenberg, owner Showroom 10Eleven; Sandy Richman, co-owner, Directives West buying office; Enid Portuguez, fashion editor, LA.com; Ilse Metchek, executive director, California Fashion Association; Frances Harder, executive director, Fashion Business Incorporated, Edie Locke, president, Fashion Group International of Los Angeles Foundation; and Christopher Blomquist, editor-in-chief, Sportswear International.

The Award categories for 2006 include the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award, the Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award, and awards for Fashion Retail, Marketing Excellence, Fashion Communication and Inspiration. An additional award, presented by the Nasdaq Stock Market, is based on stock price performance for a California fashion brand.

October 20, 2006 marks the second annual LA Fashion Awards, slated to take place at the Orpheum Theatre. The event is perfectly timed to close LA Fashion Week and open LA Market Week for the Spring 2007 season. Doors open at 7pm for red carpet arrivals, cocktails and appetizers from some of LA's finest restaurants. The awards show begins in the theatre auditorium at 8pm. A limited supply of tickets will be available to the public through Ticketmaster.com in September.

Among the top sponsors renewing event support for the 2006 LA Fashion Awards are founding sponsor Moss Adams LLP for the MAFI (Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award) Wells Fargo Century, which has just named the Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award, and NASDAQ, presenters of an award for top apparel stock performance. FedEx, Market Wire and Design Tonic have also renewed their support.

LA Fashion Awards premiere event winners in 2005 included Designer Nony Tochterman of Petro Zillia, with the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award, famed retailer Ron Herman at Fred Segal Melrose for Fashion Retailer of the Year, and Dov Charney of American Apparel for Marketing Excellence. They joined other fashion leaders honored at the premiere event: designer Trina Turk was presented with the Fashion Achievement Award; former west coast bureau chief Rose Apodaca of Women's Wear Daily was honored with the Communications Award; educator Rosemary Brantley of Otis College of Art + Design received the Inspiration Award, and Richard Woolcott of active lifestyle brand Volcom, Inc., received the California Apparel IPO of the Year presented by NASDAQ. Over 1,000 fashion industry professionals and fashion fans witnessed the premiere, including Bob Mackie (nine-time Emmy winning costume designer), retailer Fred Hayman, costume designer Cate Adair (Desperate Housewives) and red carpet critic Melissa Rivers.

The LA Fashion Awards event would not be possible without the generous support of its visionary sponsors and partners, including Moss Adams LLP, Wells Fargo Century, NASDAQ, FedEx, Market Wire, Design Tonic, Much & House, Evolutionary Media Group, Traction Press, Cloutier Agency, FTC Commercial Services, Paul Mitchell, Biotherm, and Sauza Tequila. Los Angeles magazine, LA.com and California Apparel News are among the media sponsors. The LA Fashion Awards are endorsed by the California Fashion Association, Fashion Business Incorporated, Fashion Group International of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fashion District BID, the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. A Title-level Sponsor is still being sought for this essential industry event.
