BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Dave Scott, arguably the most prolific endurance athlete of all time, will launch a series of innovative Podcasts focusing on endurance and sports nutrition this fall. The Podcast series, entitled "Endurance and Nutrition with Dave Scott," will kick off today with Scott and champion professional triathlete Simon Lessing providing guidance on how to properly fuel your body while training for an endurance event, such as a marathon or triathlon. The Podcasts will be available for download throughout the marathon season at http://www.enduranceandnutrition.com/.
Scott, six-time winner of the famed Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, will provide training tips and information for developing, fitness and competitive athletes during the Podcast series. Scott's guest on the first Podcast will be five-time International Triathlon Union Champion Lessing. The pair will provide their expertise and anecdotes on the subject of training and nutrition for endurance athletes at all levels. The series will continue on November 2, with Podcasts every other week that will focus on other aspects of endurance athlete competition, including the importance of nutrition.
"Endurance athletes are savvy new media users," said Scott, a fitness consultant and coach who continues to compete in endurance races. "This series is perfect for beginners and hard-driving athletes hitting the road with their iPods and wanting to learn how nutrition can improve their endurance-athlete experience, as we all strive for that competitive edge on race-day."
In addition to offering Podcasts available for download, the enduranceandnutrition.com website will also feature charts illustrating details on sweat rate, protein and planning your nutritional intake before, during and after workouts. The second installment of the Podcast series -- covering the 48 hours before the race -- will feature one of cycling's all- time greats, Davis Phinney, the multiple Tour de France stage winner and 1984 Olympic Bronze Medalist.
Lessing, who won the Escape From Alcatraz race earlier this year and is among the pre-race favorites for the inaugural Ironman 70.3 World Championship in November, will return for the third Podcast, which deals with race day. The guest for the fourth Podcast will be Dr. Robert Portman, co-author of two books on sports nutrition and hydration, The Performance Zone and Nutrient Timing. These books have reshaped conventional thinking on the most effective ways that athletes can refuel and rehydrate during exercise.
