SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CXtec(R), a global provider of new and certified pre-owned computer networking and technology equipment, recently unveiled its new Technology Exploration and Conference (tec) Center, a 2,500 square foot facility in the lower level of CXtec's world headquarters in Syracuse, N.Y. The tec Center is one of just two such technologically advanced demonstration centers in New York State.

It also allows us to explain how we implemented certain technologies within our own company, such as Unified Communications, that may be ideal solutions for our customers," said Barbara S. CXtec recently implemented a Cisco Systems Unified Communication system, which is featured in the tec Center. The system includes Cisco Unified MeetingPlace, a state-of-the-art rich-media conferencing solution that seamlessly integrates audio, video and web capabilities. In addition to advanced call routing and reporting capabilities, the solution also features a wireless network to provide guest Internet access and wireless Cisco 7920 IP phones.

The new Cisco technology demonstrates mobility, security and Unified Communications. There are also network monitoring applications, firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN) concentrators, Internet Protocol (IP) phone switches, wireless controllers, Intrusion prevention devices and Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) devices, and other related select devices.
Two tec Center conference rooms-The Robert Metcalfe Conference Room and The Gordon Moore Conference Room-are fully capable of providing videoconferencing, customer demonstrations, and technology discussions against a backdrop of network equipment from multiple equipment vendors and cabling/cabinet/conveyance manufacturers.
The tec Center highlights multi-generational, multi-vendor scenarios in customer networks and environments with equipment provided by Cisco, Nortel, 3Com and Hewlett Packard. The Center's active laboratory allows CXtec to stage and configure equipment to meet a company's specifications and ensure a problem-free installation, as well as duplicate a customer's computer specification set-up in order to try and best troubleshoot any existing computer problem.
All of the equipment is positioned in racks and cabinets on a raised floor, connected via under-floor conveyances that can be seen through a Plexiglas panel in the floor. Hoffman and Great Lakes are the featured cabinet/rack vendors, while fiber and under-floor conveyance were provided from additional manufacturers.
