Cradle and Panacom Announce Production of High Performance Surveillance Suite
Feb. 28, 2007 05:59 PM
SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/28/07 -- Cradle Technologies, a fabless semiconductor
company providing Multi-core DSPs (MDSPs) for video and imaging systems,
and Panacom Technology Corporation, a global provider of surveillance
solution equipment, today announced the production launch of a full suite
of PCI cards and embedded DVRs powered by Cradle's technology.
Based on the Cradle CT3616, a high-powered scalable MDSP, Panacom's PCI DVR
cards and embedded DVRs will be distributed throughout Asia and Europe.
Panacom products will use Cradle's MPEG-4 codec libraries and embedded
system software. Panacom will also be a high-volume board manufacturing
partner for Cradle's newest 16-Channel Janus PCI DVR reference design. As a
manufacturing partner, Panacom has already started the product design and
development process, and expects to begin mass production in Q3 2007.
"Panacom's PCI card and embedded DVR products will provide the highest
integration and channel density in the surveillance industry, reducing
costs as a result," said Kutlu Aricanli, Cradle's Director of Sales.
"Cradle is pleased to provide the enabling technology and cost structure
through our CT3616 MDSP and MPEG-4 codec libraries to give Panacom the
features and performance needed to rapidly expand their business in the
surveillance industry. In addition, as a PCI DVR card manufacturing
partner, Panacom will enable future Cradle customers to go to market
without having to build their own hardware or software solutions."
Cradle's new Janus PCI DVR is a production ready, low-cost reference
design, featuring the CT3616 MDSP. Janus can simultaneously encode up to 16
channels of video and audio using a single CT3616, while reserving headroom
for intelligent video content analysis applications or playback. The fully
software programmable CT3616 MDSP allows developers to customize the
features and functions of the Janus design for product differentiation.
Channel density, frame rate, resolution, and other parameters can be
modified to accommodate video processing and analysis needs.
The Janus PCI DVR supports several video software encoders including MJPEG,
MPEG-4, and H.264. Janus also supports on-the-fly changes to encoding
parameters while the video encoder is actively working. As a result, the
frame rate, resolution, or bitrate of each individual video channel can be
immediately changed as required in response to external events, such as
alarms. This can be done without the need or delay of terminating the
original encoding session in order to start a second session with new
encoding parameters. Now, manufacturers can quickly bring to market PCI DVR
cards based on a single hardware reference design, manufactured with
different stuffing options. This significantly reduces development time,
cost, and complexity.
"The Cradle Janus PCI DVR reference design, utilizing the high performance
CT3616 MDSP and the new multi-channel MPEG-4 libraries, has proven to be
the ideal platform for our embedded DVR and PCI card products going
forward," said Rudolph Lee, Panacom's President and CEO. "The flexibility
and versatility of the Cradle MDSP platform will enable us to rapidly bring
to market several products while adding value by incorporating advanced
features such as intelligent video analysis with multi-channel
capabilities."
