Abrazo Health Care Wins eCopy(TM) Document Imaging Best Practices Award
Document Imaging Software Makes Record Keeping Easy at Abrazo
Jun. 13, 2007 12:30 PM
NASHUA, NH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/13/07 -- eCopy Inc., a leading provider of solutions that
integrate paper documents into business software applications, and Toshiba
America Business Solutions Inc. today announced Abrazo Health Care was
recognized with an eCopy document imaging Best Practices Award. The award
acknowledges health care excellence in managing medical staff records by
converting paper-based information into secure digital documents, helping
Abrazo comply with state and federal regulations.
Abrazo, a group of six specialized health care affiliates in Maricopa
County, Ariz., utilizes eCopy ShareScan® document scanning software to
capture incoming documents and associate them with medical staff records
maintained in a Midas+ credentialing software application, cutting a
process that previously took 40 hours a month in staff time down to four
hours per month.
"Previously, we required extensive time resources and personnel costs in
managing paper-based health care provider privileges and credentials such
as permission to prescribe drugs, malpractice claims, licenses and medical
certifications," said Linda Smith, medical staff coordinator at Arrowhead
Hospital, an affiliate of Abrazo Health Care. "eCopy document scanning
software is so easy to use it has dramatically cut the time we need to
manage the records and certifications of our 1000 health care providers."
Documents are scanned at Abrazo's Toshiba multifunction peripheral (MFP)
where the eCopy user interface displays five buttons, making it easy to
scan and send to an e-mail address or to previously created electronic
folders (e.g., folders named licenses, insurance, controlled substances,
etc.). This new electronic process has resulted in no paper files being
added to Abrazo's onsite hardcopy storage and fax volumes being reduced by
50 percent in the medical staff office. The system was sold and installed
by Infincom, Abrazo's office equipment dealer.
"Abrazo was selected from organizations worldwide for this best practices
award because of their innovation in complying with government health care
regulations," said Vickie Malis, vice president of Marketing at eCopy.
"They are health care leaders by enabling their knowledge workers to
capture paper-based information themselves rather than requiring documents
to travel by interoffice mail to a centralized scanning operation. We
salute Abrazo Health Care for their best practices excellence."
