Elluminate Enhances Leading eLearning and Web Collaboration Solution With Launch of Elluminate Live! V8
New Features Increase Effectiveness of Teaching and Learning in Online and Blended Sessions for Groups of All Sizes
Jun. 25, 2007 01:00 PM

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/25/07 -- Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration solutions, today announced the launch of the latest version of its flagship product, Elluminate Live!® V8. The new release sets the bar for real-time eLearning and web conferencing, working to effectively engage groups of all sizes in interactive online sessions. Elluminate has expanded the capabilities of Elluminate Live! to improve the teaching and learning experience, adding features such as synchronized notes, higher-resolution video, indexed recordings, enhanced breakout rooms and more.

In its newest version, Elluminate increases the interactivity of a real-time online session while following the company's No User Left Behind(TM) core philosophy to create a best-in-class user experience for all participants, regardless of ability, computer operating system or available bandwidth. As with previous versions, V8 easily integrates with Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, WebCT and eCollege learning management systems. To engage more people in more ways, Elluminate made a variety of enhancements to facilitate small-group interaction, simplify large-group management, connect participants in a blended onsite/online environment and foster social networking. The new features include:

-- Synchronized Notes. Attendees take notes in a separate window during
the session, which are saved on each local computer and can be shared with
others. Notes can also be edited or enhanced during recording playback and
saved to a file for exam review, or to create a session transcript or
    closed captioning content.

-- Interactive Two-Way Video. Higher-resolution video allows moderators
and participants to project video images in fine detail. Users can take
snapshots of the video feeds and post still images to the whiteboard.
Three window sizes are available: 160x120, 320x240 and 640x480, and video
can be transmitted in coarse and fine grays and color, depending on
    bandwidth capabilities.

-- Indexed Recordings. Elluminate Live! archives are now automatically
indexed based on session actions, such as slide changes, topic changes, web
tours, video feeds and more. Manual indices can be added, and all indices
    are searchable.

-- Teaching- and Learning-focused Tools. Timers and pop-up announcements
increase the interactivity between moderator and participants in small-
group breakout rooms within a larger session. Session participants are
automatically sorted by raised hands to facilitate Q&A for moderators.

-- Active Content. Moderators and participants can publish clickable
URLs from web tour to chat and add clickable links to chat discussions and
whiteboards. Moderators can also change interactive sessions to full-
screen Presentation Mode, allowing users to focus solely on content during
    the lecture.

"Elluminate has been providing the next best thing to in-person instruction for a few years now," said Ben Rogers, digital media engineer at Duke University. "Their virtual rooms are actually better outfitted with a variety of pedagogically useful tools than most classrooms. In V8, they've skillfully extended this set of tools, already well beyond the competition, and should handily maintain their lead. As a bonus, they've addressed feedback they've received from users, and now offer shockingly good video. What could instructors do with a classroom that had presentation technology, polling clickers, and recordings indexed to individual student notes? Online, with Elluminate Live! V8, we can find out."

"The new notes feature in V8 enhances the application's value as a learning tool," said Steve Serburn, eLearning technical manager of Bentley Institute. "The ability to save whiteboards and chat content, transfer files, and take and save notes extends the application's value beyond transmission of voice and content. Participants learn to rely on well-developed, easy-to-use features that demystify web collaboration and create an environment that encourages communication. Elluminate Live! is evolving into a complete learning solution."

"Our ultimate goal is to transform teaching and learning through the use of next-generation collaborative learning tools - Edu 2.0, if you will," said Maurice Heiblum, president of Elluminate USA. "By increasing the interactivity of Elluminate Live! we enable online learning to become second nature to both teachers and learners. New offerings, such as our free, three-seat Elluminate vRoom, have opened up the use of our technology to more than 500,000 unique users of all technological levels and abilities in 170 countries."
