MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/07/08 -- IXIASOFT, the XML content management market leader, today announced the availability of the DITA CMS Framework 2.1. With its new capabilities, the DITA CMS Framework fully supports DITA 1.1, provides technical communicators with advanced project management features and WYSIWYG support for DITA bookmaps.

Key features of the DITA CMS Framework 2.1 include:

Project Management

The project management functionality is unique to the DITA CMS Framework solution. It offers an overview of multi-deliverable projects that may include documents as diverse as installation instructions, training packages and reference documentation. Project managers will use this feature to select the staff who will be responsible for documentation and review, for setting up review dates for the maps that make up a project and for specifying the languages in which each map should be translated to.

Since the project management feature is a specific view in the DITA CMS Framework, it allows project managers to quickly identify projects and deliverables that are approaching or past their due dates or milestones. As a result, this feature enables efficient resource management and facilitates the on-time delivery of documentation.

DITA bookmap support in the DITA Map editor

DITA 1.1 specifications include a number of enhancements which primarily addresses the optimization of content reuse and single sourcing capabilities. Being a DITA-specific solution, the DITA CMS Framework was quick to announce its compliance with DITA 1.1. One of the important features of DITA 1.1 is the DITA bookmap, a new specialization of DITA maps that defines the structure for producing information as a book.

In it latest version, the DITA CMS Framework supports DITA bookmaps directly within its DITA Map editor. Therefore, technical communicators now have a user friendly interface not only to create DITA bookmaps but also to help them qualify specific sections of a book. All of the already available DITA Map editor features - including map comparison, drag and drop of topics between maps and nesting and cloning of maps - are also be accessible to manage DITA bookmaps.

"We are very proud of this latest version of the DITA CMS Framework solution which features functionalities that have a direct impact on our customers' day-to-day usage of the CMS. More specifically, the project management feature is quite unique in that it enables a quick overview of projects statuses - an essential tool that will help them achieve business objectives efficiently." said Jean-Francois Ameye, Vice-President of Products & Integration at IXIASOFT.

IXIASOFT is currently participating in Content Management Strategies / DITA North America 2008 Conference in Santa Clara, CA April 7th - 9th. During this conference, IXIASOFT will be giving various presentations and offering live demos of the DITA CMS Framework 2.1
